Fondazione Roma Museo

The Fondazione Roma Museo, formerly Museo del Corso, began its journey, its quest dedicated to the discovery of art, in 1999.

The idea and motivation came from Prof. Emmanuele F.M. Emanuele, Chairman of the Fondazione Roma, and the Museum represents another step in the path that has seen the Fondazione Roma gradually acquiring operative status, being no longer merely a charitable provider but an active player in the complex local scene, focused on the main aim of the integral development of the area.

Museo Fondazione Roma is a concrete example of the enduring links between the Fondazione Roma and the Eternal City, and now, ten years after its creation, it is known as one of the most significant elements in the vast, highly qualified panorama of the capital’s museums, as well as nationally and internationally.

Compared to the other, undoubtedly illustrious museums in the city, the Museo Fondazione Roma stands out for its distinctive cultural offering, characterised not only by the class of its temporary exhibitions, but also by its quest for innovative solutions which aim to bring as many people as possible to the world of art. The venue presents informative cultural initiatives such as seminars, conferences, shows and themed events that explore specific or little known aspects of the various artists, or the historic period related to each exhibition, giving rise to an “open” and “multifaceted” site which is a place for meeting, socialising and engaging with diverse cultural experiences.

Particular attention is dedicated to the weaker social categories, with specific initiatives that include guided tours for people with special needs or visual impairments, in line with the mission of its originating body, Fondazione Roma, which works in the fields of health, education, scientific research, art and culture, and assistance to vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.

Since 1999 the Museum has staged more than 30 temporary exhibitions in collaboration with the most prestigious international museums, including Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the St. Petersburg State Museum, the Pushkin Museum and the Cremlin Museum in Moscow, the Louvre, the Palace Museum in Beijing, the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin, The Honolulu Academy of Arts, and the Whitney Museum of American Arts in New York.
